How to become a computer security expert

How to become a computer security expert? Part -2

Some Important Topics of becoming a computer security expert

    a. Networking.

Networking is the most essential part of computer technology. Computer security expert needs to know that. There are many types of computer networks, including the following:

  1. Local-area networks (LANs): The computers are geographically close together (that is, in the same building).
  2. Wide-area networks (WANs): The computers are farther apart and are connected by telephone lines or radio waves.
  • Campus-area networks (CANs): The computers are within a limited geographic area, such as a campus or military base.
  1. Metropolitan-area networks (MANs): A data network designed for a town or city.
  2. Home-area networks (HANs): A network contained within a user’s home that connects a person’s digital devices.

Network Characteristics

  1. Topology: The geometric arrangement of a computer system. Common topologies include a bus, star, and ring. See the Network topology diagrams in the Quick Reference section of any good reference for good books.
  2. Protocol: The protocol defines a common set of rules and signals that computers on the network use to communicate. One of the most popular protocols for LANs is called Ethernet. Another popular LAN protocol for PCs is the IBM token-ring network.3
  3. Architecture: Networks can be broadly classified as using either a peer-to-peer or client/server architecture. Computers on a network are sometimes called nodes. Computers and devices that allocate resources for a network are called servers.

  b.   Software cracking

Software cracking means crack serial numbers or use the trial version for a life-time. Learn Assembly programming. In order to crack most software, you will need to have a good grasp of assembly, which is a low-level programming language. Assembly is derived from machine language, and each assembly language is specific to the type of computer you are using. Most assembly language is expressed through binary and hexadecimal so, you need to know it to become a computer security expert.

I found most of the resources and books are available over the internet are applicable for those who have some knowledge on the subject. Some of them are available for business purposes. That’s why I decided to come up with this post which will give useful tips for beginners on how to kick start their journey to becoming a security expert.

So then the questions are What is the easiest way to learn computer security for beginners?

I request to follow the steps given below:

    1. Start Hacking with learning the basics of it.

I am considering that you are new in computer security and you reading this article without any prior knowledge. So I suggest you start from the very beginning of networking. That’s why you have to start from the beginning. I never suggest you jump to learning computer security of how to hack, you can begin exploring more about the essential topics which you must need to know to become an expert. I am mentioning here some of those topics. But also not suggest you learn all of them over the day. You can start one after one. In the case of learning everywhere, there are some prerequisites or dependencies. You may fetch some of them in case of learning anything and becoming a computer security expert.

    2. Such as you do not know about the letter, so it is possible for you to write any word? So you have to learn the alphabets/letters and then the words. After learning the words then move for sentences. What do you think this is bad? Some will may think that this is not necessary here but I am trying myself to make your concept clear. So you will not fetch difficulties in the future.
  1. Learn about basic topics first

As you are reading this article so then you know the operation (basic) of computers and the internet. So from here to move you may start learning with Computer Operating systems, Very basic of how different operating systems works, which operating system is for which tasks, which one is for which purpose. I suggest you some most used operating system here are windows, Unix, macOS, Qubes OS, Kali Linux, ubuntu, fedora, metasploitable and many more. Then I suggest being habituated with any of the Unix based operating system and learn about terminal command line works. You may use a different operating system in a single PC and become a computer security expert.

  2. There are many ways to do that. You may use it from Pendrive, live CD or from the virtual machine. If you need any help regarding that just throw your comment in the comment box I will try to cover a session on that. Then learn about computer networks. This is the most important topic of learning to hack. I am mentioning some of the topics from the networking part. As it is a huge matter to learn networking so this sorting will help you a lot. You may start with computer networks, IP address, firewalls, protocols, communication systems, methods, Http, https, FTP, Nameserver, DNS, Email protocol, DHCP, NAT, Subnetting, IPv4, IPv6, Public vs Private IP, Routers, and switches, VLANs, OSI model, MAC address, ARP e.t.c.
  3. Try to habituate with Linux

I am assuming that you are really interested in learning computer security. So then the most powerful thing you have to learn for learning computer security is Linux. Because most of the hacking tools are developed for Linux OS. All the tools are used by the hacker are developed for Linux mostly and few for windows. If you really want to improve your skill so then I recommend you start learning Linux for becoming a computer security expert.

  4. Learn about virtualization

Sometimes you may need a different operating system at a time to work. So I like to suggest you learn about VM Ware, Virtualbox, Ideally, you need a safe environment to practice your expertise before you take them out in the real world. A virtual environment provides you a safe environment to test and refine your hacks before going live with them.

  5. Gather knowledge on Technologies and Security Concept

To become a good hacker you must have good knowledge of security and technologies. The only way to overcome the roadblocks established by the security admins is to be familiar with. You must understand somethings like PKI (public key infrastructure), SSL (secure sockets layer), IDS (intrusion detection system), firewalls, etc.
